We're Moving!
Reflections on Transitions + Future Adventures
Hello dear reader - Bixa here, to share some updates about Thought Forms and the journey ahead as we prepare for winter.
Moving Home for Winter
Our fall show season ended last month, and inevitably we go forth in the way artists must, pursuing the unquenchable thirst to always be making. This fall we find ourselves challenged by a sooner-than-expected move out of our studio, formerly located at the heavenly facility that is Green Matters Natural Dye Company. This month we exchange our hour-and-some-change commute for a walkable studio in Philadelphia, but not without some growing pains. Our previous space was outfitted like a dream - hoses suspended from the ceiling, a hot water faucet, drains in the floor, all kinds of silly essentials for a process that requires water and space for water to flow.
Of course, there is some heartache as I’m a country-kid at heart. I will miss the quiet of working in the middle of nowhere, the quirks and charms of Amish culture, the unbelievable (and cheap!) BBQ, thrift stores like you wouldn’t believe, roadside farmstands, clear starry nights, and watching the seasons change by way of a cornfield, growing tall in long wavering rows until the field is plowed by a quartet of draft horses in early October. We used to bring our city-girl of a dog to the studio and show her what life outside the city was like. Here she learned to share space with horses, chickens, sheep, several Texas longhorns, and the farm dogs that live outside in the summertime. It is challenging to leave such a perfect and dreamlike place, but the time has come for us to set up shop closer to home.
And so - we are in process of moving and designing our new space, which admittedly is not as ready-to-go as we would have hoped. The dye house is a growing business and needs space previously (and generously) shared with us, so we graciously bow out and carry on. When I talk amongst other artists and friends, it seems like it is a collective time of transitioning and change. How appropriate, too, as the seasons shift from autumn and toward winter, that we find ourselves rebuilding our sanctuary, our nest, our studio.
When we finally began showing our work, we received many questions about how we make our work and what our studio is like. I created this video as an offering and farewell to the place that shaped our practice. I hope you appreciate the magic of this process, which exists in collaboration with plants, animals, place, and spirit.

If you’ve met us in person you may recognize the photo series in this email are from a book we bring to every art show. They are now available for $50 each; please email us and include your mailing address if you are interested in a copy. The booklet contains photos of our process, moments in the dye house, installation shots of our work in your most gorgeous homes, and photos of our fall installation A Field of Not Even Anything.
We will be placing orders mid December and aim to ship by the end of 2025.
Through all transitions, thank you for being here.
With care,

So excited to see what this new chapter brings, and love the book!!
